Fun with numbers and counting

Matching objects and checking amounts. Recognising numerals and developing an understanding of more and less. Wow!

Well done, Liliana! Super matching and counting objects in a set.

Ordering by size and carefully counting and matching to correct numeral. Excellent!

Great work here! Ordering numerals 0- 5 then 0 - 10 and finding the missing numbers. Well done!

WOW!  Independent problem solving. You worked out that you wanted to use the cones 1 and the 0 for number 10. We need to make another number 1, don't we?

Miss B says "Well done to Hayden for super counting and computer work."

Miss J says "Fantastic counting Umsha and you are trying hard to recognise numerals too!"

"Sami has been busy writing numerals at home."

Mrs H is very impressed with how Lewis and Kabir are helping others to solve problems and use number knowledge in many areas of learning. Miss B has noticed such increased confidence here too!

Mrs D has noticed how nursery friends are trying so hard with singing rhymes to help with counting. Well done!

Some fantastic counting and writing numerals.

Messy mark making

Look at our mark making using all sorts of different media, including: mixing colours onto a surface and creating patterns, drawing and writing...

European Day of Languages

Nursery and Reception will be taking part in activities related to Denmark. We will be learning some words in Danish. See if you can dress in red and white on Friday for this special day.

Miss B and EYFS Team

What a busy day we had with Reception Class!

Making necklaces, mark making, making flags and Danish pastries. Such fun!

We learnt the words to the song: Head, shoulders...in Danish and some words for hello, bye, yes, no, happy and sad. We also enjoyed watching the alphabet and number song.

We also enjoyed sharing a famous story, written by a Danish author called: The Ugly Duckling.

PHOTOS to view on Nursery notice board - coming soon...!

Listening Walk

Today we went on a Listening Walk around school, inside and outside.

We listened carefully and heard all sorts of sounds, including:

An aeroplane, birds singing, coughing, footsteps, shouting, a car, a refuse truck, a clanging sound, trucks, keys jingling, sound from keys typing, a telephone and people talking and laughing.

Some sounds were quiet and others were loud.

Afterwards we worked in pairs whilst playing a game of Sounds Lotto. We listened carefully to the sounds and if we heard a sound pictured on our board, we covered it with a counter.

Then we talked about the sounds we liked, such as: a cat, a piano, a bouncing ball and a motorbike and sounds we didn't like, such as: thunder and lightning, shouting and a dog barking.

Lovely listening!

Book time

Here are some of our favourite stories...

Here we are with our favourite books...

We talked about our favourite book and have used mark making to represent our understanding of the story/ content.

It was fun!

More super reading together...

Art in the style of Jackson Pollock

We will be taking our artistic talents outdoors and using paint to create different effects in the style of an artist. It is likely to get very messy....but will be great fun!

Watch this space!

Jam tarts

After being so busy making all sorts of food, including: bread, cakes, ice creams and biscuits using the play dough, we have decided to make real treats... Jam tarts!

We enjoyed learning the rhyme about the Queen of Hearts...

We listened carefully to instructions and rolled out the pastry. we used the cutter and heart shape with good control. After adding the jam and taking them to the kitchen, we talked about what would happen to them in the oven.

We enjoyed tasting them at snack time!

Look at our computer work...

We used the mouse to navigate around the screen, carefully selecting colours and objects required to create imaginary lands and creatures! Lots of concentration and perseverance required.

Liliana enjoyed choosing the colours and carefully used the mouse to select where she wanted the colours to go!

Lewis added astronauts and aliens!

This alien looks quite friendly! Very independent, Sinead. Well done!

Fantastic! You spent a lot of time on this and really persevered when using the mouse.

Great selection of colours and lots of talk about this place.

Lots to see under the sea. Well done, Asiya!

Excellent work!

Well done!

Amazing Art!

Welcome to our Nursery 2014 - 2015 page!

A warm welcome to all nursery friends and their families. We hope you have had a wonderful summer break and are ready for a fun-filled year ahead!

Our topic this half term is 'Ourselves'.  We will be enjoying spending time with our friends and making new friends. older friends have returned to nursery, very happy to be back and ever so grown up! New friends are already settling in really well - well done and thank you to grown ups for your valuable support. Older nursery friends have been so kind and helpful showing new friends what we do in nursery - fantastic!

We will be joining in all sorts of activities: making things, painting, using play dough, building and baking and developing our social and communication skills through learning both indoors and outdoors!

Please come and have a look at our fantastic art gallery and computer work.

A great start to the new year!
