Our Nursery

Would you like to see our nursery?

Our under the sea display. We learnt a lot about the various fish and creatures you find under the sea and used different media to represent them, working individually and in groups. We enjoyed sharing the story about The Rainbow Fish. He is a very special fish and the story's message really helped us understand why it is important to share with others.

This picture shows our mark making. We used drawing and writing to create our letters to baby bear. We pretended we were Goldilocks and sent a letter to say "Sorry".
Physical Development: Moving and Handling; Literacy: Writing; Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

This is where all of our birthdays are put up on the board. At snack time, we often talk about special times, share news and enjoy having conversations.

This board shows different ways of saying 'hello' in various languages.

This picture shows some of the different activities and experiences we take part in to help us to develop and learn through play. We often talk about what we like to do best and are encouraged to try out new things, persevere and challenge ourselves.

This is our nature area. Here, we explore and investigate a range of natural objects. We use our senses to find out more and can select items needed to further support our investigative and imaginative play. This area encourages us to talk about what we can see and make links to our own experiences. We really enjoy going on nature walks and hunts for bugs when outside. Understanding the world; Comunication and Language; Mathematics from the EYFS.

This is our role play area. Right now we have a shopping area with lots of different toy food and pretend money. We are further developing our language and social skills through using our own experiences of going shopping with our parents/carers within our play and learning Being Imaginative; Making Relationships; Communication and Language; Mathematics EYFS.

This is our reading corner with a selection of books available for us to look at, share with others and select independently. Daily book times sessions are a favourite time of ours. Some of our recent favourite books include: Lima's Red Hot Chilli, Handa's Surprise, Owl Babies, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Jack and the Beanstalk, The Rainbow Fish and the Very Hungry Caterpillar!

This is our workshop area. We access and self select from here with increasing independence.

Learning continues when we are outside too...

Here is some of our fantastic outdoor equipment!
We have lots of fun trying to weave in and out of them. Many of us attempt this independently.

This is our ship. It's very big and we enjoy climbing, scrambling and sliding. We play lots of fun and imaginative games here whilst developing our gross motor skills, coordination of movement, balance, muscle strength and awareness of personal safety. Persevering and developing self-confidence along the way.

This is the construction area. There's lots of objects and tools to use here. We put on our plastic helmets as we have to be safe when we're playing.

This is the bridge and the balance beam. We take turns, being very careful as we walk across it.

This is the nature area. Here we have lots of beautiful plants and and flowers. We also have some bird feeding stations and a little pond with some tadpoles. We have to say thank you to Mrs. Daniels and her family for all of her help and hard work.

We also have some wonderful walls that help us to count and learn our alphabet.

In our outside play area, we also have lots of trikes and cars to play with, as well as some sand and musical instruments. We use a range of media: pens, chalk, crayons, paint to further develop our fine motor skills.

We really hope you've enjoyed having a look at our nursery and find it as exciting as we do!
