Dear Zoo (Rod Campbell)

We have really been enjoying sharing this story.

It has helped us to use vocabulary related to size, height, feelings and action words. We have been using actions, signs and sounds when reading the story together. Lots of us are spotting letter sounds in our own and our friends names and other words too, e.g. Animal names. We are increasing our awareness of print in and around the environment, its purpose and meaning.

We have also enjoyed going on an outdoor adventure looking for the animals using binoculars we had made! Excellent independent and team work here. Mrs M was very impressed!

We have worked very hard writing letters to the Zoo to ask for a pet or two. We thought about whether we would send it back or keep it! It was fun posting the letters too!

We have also made our own class big book and are going to try and make our own lift-the-flap books too, which we are going to show to another class.

We will also be learning the song, tackling a tricky puzzle, practising our walk through the jungle routine and doing the animal boogie. Watch this space...

Keen to make our own books. Come and read them with us!

Wow! Excellent focus and perseverance!

Well done!
